The Benefits of Magnesium

A lot of people are deficient in minerals like Magnesium because it is no longer found in our diets.  Unfortunately, many diseases can be linked to a lack of Magnesium in our bodies.

Magnesium is naturally present in many foods, added to other food products, available as a dietary supplement, and present in some medicines.

About 60% of the magnesium in your body is found in bone, while the rest is in muscles, soft tissues and fluids, including blood.

  • Magnesium and calcium go hand in hand in maintaining bone health. Without magnesium, a high intake of calcium can increase the risk of arterial calcification and cardiovascular disease, as well as kidney stones. Magnesium is required to build new bone cells as well as protecting bones against bone loss and osteoporosis. It has been found that women diagnosed with osteoporosis have significantly lower levels of magnesium than healthy women.
